Our team

At Zen for Kids, our educators bring experience, professionalism and heart into everything they do. Carefully chosen for their warmth and integrity, they create an environment where children feel safe, seen and supported, and where families feel confident and connected.

The values that guide us

Our values shape every decision we make, every interaction we have, and the atmosphere you feel the moment you walk through our doors.

Calm in a busy world

We intentionally create an environment that feels steady, peaceful and predictable. When children experience calm around them, they begin to build calm within themselves.

Presence over outcomes

We value emotional regulation and connection just as highly as school readiness. By slowing down and truly seeing each child, we nurture confidence that lasts far beyond early learning.

Safety without compromise

Protection is proactive, not reactive. Through rigorous training, clear procedures and attentive supervision, we ensure every child is cared for with diligence and integrity.

Community and connection

By building strong partnerships with families and supporting one another as a team, we create a centre culture rooted in respect, gratitude and belonging.

Meet our founder

Kristy

Owner operator

During her own personal journey into mindfulness, Kristy realised the powerful impact that ‘slowing down’ had on her life. Through this journey, Kristy discovered breathwork and sound healing, experiencing a deep sense of calm, clarity and connection that reshaped the way she approached both life and learning.

Kristy’s professional background spans 30 years of early childhood care, having progressed from trainee to director, area manager and multi-centre owner.

In 2025, Kristy wanted to bring together her expertise in childcare and her deep appreciation for mindfulness to open a holistic childcare centre. She believes that childhood is one of the most sacred times in a person’s life, and that every child deserves to feel fully seen, supported and safe. It is through her lived experience of motherhood, her personal philosophy and her decades of experience in early childhood that Zen for Kids was born.

Working on-site as the owner-operator at Zen for Kids, Kristy is deeply present and involved in the day-to-day life of the centre. She is committed to building strong relationships with families, warmly leading and supporting her team, and creating a supportive, genuine and relationship-driven environment where everyone feels valued.

Opportunities to join our Zen Team

At Zen for Kids, we believe the heart of our centre is the people who bring it to life each day. We are always happy to connect with passionate educators who share our values of calm, connection and nurturing childhood experiences. If you are someone who values meaningful relationships, a supportive team culture and creating a peaceful environment where children can thrive, we would love to hear from you and welcome you to join our Zen journey.

Safety and training

Our centre operates a secure, multi-layered entry process designed to protect every child in our care.

Each family receives a unique door code for controlled access to the foyer, all arrivals and departures are signed in and out at reception, and a second secure door separates the foyer from our learning environments, accessible only by educators or office staff.

Beyond secure entry, our commitment to protection continues through rigorous training. Every educator holds current first aid, allergy training, CPR and child protection certification, with ongoing training to ensure best practice is always maintained.

We go further by investing in ongoing professional development, including Mental Health First Aid training for our room leaders.

Through our integration of the ELMA emotional literacy program, we also support children to feel safe with their emotions — building resilience, empathy and confidence that extends well beyond their early years.

Our goal is to create an environment where children feel protected, families feel confident, and our team can focus on providing calm, meaningful and holistic care every day.

Our relationship with parents

We understand that choosing a childcare centre is one of the most important and emotional decisions a family makes.

At Zen for Kids, we see parents as true partners in their child’s journey. We prioritise open communication, warmth and genuine connection so you always feel informed, supported and heard throughout your time with us.

We also understand that transitions can feel delicate, especially in the early days. That’s why we offer thoughtful orientation sessions, welcome parents to spend time in the space, and maintain an open-door approach to communication — because your reassurance matters just as much as your child’s.
Our hope is that you leave each day feeling confident and at ease, knowing your child is safe, nurtured and truly supported by the educators around them.

“Together with families, we create a calm and nurturing foundation where children feel safe, confident and ready to thrive.”

Join our Zen Team

We believe educators deserve the same care, respect and support that we offer children.

We are building a team grounded in presence, professionalism and heart, where wellbeing is prioritised, leadership is accessible, and growth is encouraged.

If you are passionate about holistic early learning, emotional literacy and creating calm, meaningful environments, we would love to hear from you.
